LCR, I saw one last week - truly - but it's the first and only Niken I've ever seen 'in the wild'. Made me do a double take!

4 years ago i tried it for a day in Spain, Valencia. In the city a lot of attention. Roundabouts is great fun, so much grip. In the mountains even so. I had a lot of fun.

Seen a couple out and about here in North Wales. I’ve just swapped from a Tiger gt pro for a street triple RS because of weight. I can see the positives in the Niken as I get older and my knees are knackered!

Why don’t Yamaha put this screen on the MT-10? Or make a Tracer with MT-10 engine? That’s what they SHOULD be doing instead of making novelties like this. The MT-10 is such an awesome bike but that screen is completly outdated

As a second or third back it makes sense… especially in the UK 🌧️ have your sports/tourer for the dry month and then one of these for the rest of the year. 👍😂

I think Yamaha has missed a trick, if they produce a version in the Kenny Roberts race colours that would provide the whole only fools and horses experience 😂😂😂

A friend of mine owns one that he bought second hand with just a few kilometres, he wanted to return it to a Yamaha dealer to get another Yamaha motorbike. Well the official Yamaha dealer refused to collect his Niken. I consider it an interesting motorbike with a lot of recent technology but it's not to everyone's tastes and then not even an official Yamaha dealer takes it back.

tested out toroughly in an event here in Italy..."rock solid" IS the definition, for the good and MAINLY for the bad: for a sporty feeling this is not MY "way to go", and for touring...well...modern tyres and frames do already an excellent work, so I don't see the point of this mechanical nightmare (with twice/thrice the maintenance at the front and an odd choice of front wheel measures)

Daft question but the definition of a motorcycle basically is 2 wheels with an engine………therefore this has 3 do you need a motorcycle licence to ride??

I've seen 2 of them in Hull.1 is parked up in the hospital. Also saw them as escort bikes when watching the tour of Britain milk race when It can through our surrounding villages a few years ago. They did look impressive.

I spent a day on one and they are great but underpowered if you like your speed. I think better than a GS as a dedicated tourer as adding a pillion and luggage doesn’t affect handling or the sharpness of the steering. Pillion heated grips would be a nice option and extendable front wheel mudguards for bad weather only

The positives are obvious (as demonstrated) but its total weight undoes all the goodness in it. Having said that I’d be the type of idiot to buy one because no one else will. 😮

…I think these are a great idea. If it’s boosts confidence in wet weather riding, or adds that safety element when bad roads etc then it can’t be a bad thing. Styling is….. unique. Not cheap but look at the tech in the front end. Bet it’s a pain in the ass to clean as well. Great review as always chops, much appreciated.

It doesn't have twice the contact patch compared to a regular bike, because the wheels are smaller.

Nice review. The Niken GT puts a smile on your face for sure. More so in the dry too, of course. About 80% more contact patch up front (15'' wheels). The UK with its British Bulldog culture isn't the best place to see Nikens. Some people seem offended that it's somehow trying to be a motorcycle. It's just a newer concept of vehicle, motorcycle-like or not. They are more popular in places like Japan. Having said that, according to Yamaha Yokohama and UA-cam channel back in February, the Niken was discontinued, even from order to purchase.

How not fixed all the criticisms. Tank capacity is still too small. 300 k range. How painful to stop and refuel every 150 to 200 k’s. In Australia, we don’t have affordable fuel stops every 90ks. Touring will not be practical in Australia on this amazing bike, with a joke for tank capacity. Range anxiety is real. Hello “acerbis” ?

Hi, i have just runned into your channel, and i love the reviews. I have a question, because im looking to buy one of these two bilke, the Diavel v4, or the ZH2 SE. They are into the same price range, i know the Ducati have the looks , but the question is, does it come near the ZH2 power wise? You have tested both of them, and id appreciate if you can answer the question, a little more detailed if you can. What you love or dont about the Ducati , compared with the Kawasaki Zh2. Thanks in advanced! :)

I bought a 22 Tiger 900 GT Pro and it absolutely had break in oil. It looked like a coolant leak. A bit opaque

Recommendation here from a 2019 Tono V4 owner. Did the 600 mile service at the Ducati/Aprilla dealership. I still rode pretty conservatively the next 1000 miles, a few more hard pulls, and a few more high RPM runs then in the initial break-in period. I went ahead and changed the oil at the next thousand miles(total of 1600 on the clock), and boy, was it ready. It looked like oil that had been ridden hard for 5000 miles. Just something to take a look at way sooner than 6000 miles. I actually change mine at 3000 miles, because I'm more comfortable draining that's not black. 18,000 miles on my mine now, and still absolutely love it.

Both are great useable bikes. Transalp for me though. Not much thought has gone into the looks of the Suzuki. Seems like it has been assembled from the parts bin. That's a subjective thing though.

Loved watching that and a superb bike.

Nice! You can comfortably cross continents on that beast. Not quite the same as a 1980s Harley -broke down on the side of the road.
